Just two months into 2023, Jonathan Majors has cemented his status as one of the brightest young stars in Hollywood on the strength of career-making roles in Ant-Man and the Wasp and Creed III.

Fresh off his performance across from Michael B. Jordan in the latest installment in the Creed franchise, Majors made an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show, where he received a surprise visit from his former drama instructor at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Ashley Gates Jansen, who taught Majors during his freshman year, praised the actor for his “passion” and “devotion.”

“Jonathan is a warrior, and he is a poet,” she added, before addressing the 33-year-old directly. “I am so proud of you. It is such a dream for me, a dream come true, watching your dreams come true.”

Majors couldn’t help but get emotional. “I love you,” he told her while tearing up. “I’m happy to see you.”

Earlier this week, Majors stopped by IndieWire’s Screen Talk podcast, where he encouraged film critics to remember that he, along with his acting peers, have put huge amounts of time and love into their work.

“I invested in these things,” he shared. “The artists and filmmakers that made these movies invested years, sometimes, into the two hours and 15 minutes that you see—I’m not saying be nice. I’m just saying understand that it’s a real transaction that’s happening when you put pen to paper.”
