It's been 25 years since the cheerleader comedy Bring It On hit theaters, but Kirsten Dunst has no interest in revisiting the role for a potential reboot or late sequel.
Speaking with Denny Directo for Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of her new movie, Roofman, Dunst was asked if there was any interest in revisiting her role in the 2000 Peyton Reed-directed comedy. "No, not at all," she said. "I'm like, leave good things in—right where they are." She was asked if she would take on a producer role instead, but said she's not looking to do that.
"No, no," she continued. "I don't need to put on a cheerleading outfit or... I don't even know what I would do. Be a coach or something? Let's leave it at that."
Bring It On arrived during the height of Dunst's career, shortly before she starred in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. It spawned six direct-to-video sequels, none of which featured the cast of the original film. The most recent sequel came out in 2022.
Last year, Dunst indicated that she would be interested in doing superhero movies again. She has starred in a comic book film since 2007's Spider-Man 3, acting opposite Tobey Maguire. "You get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother," she said when asked if she was interested.
In her Entertainment Tonight interview, she was asked if anyone had reached out to her since she made those comments. "I would love to... Not that I know," she said. "I just want to do something that my kids would love that I was in."
