John Witherspoon, the actor and comedian who starred in everything from Friday to The Boondocks, died at age 77 on Tuesday. "It is with deepest sorrow that we can confirm our beloved husband and father, John Witherspoon, one of the hardest working men in show business, died today at his home in Sherman Oaks at the age of 77," his family told Deadline. In the wake of his death, fans have flocked to Twitter to share some of their favorite Witherspoon moments.

Friday showed up the most, with many highlighting his distinctive delivery of some often ridiculous lines. Many also took the opportunity to share their love of his role as Robert "Grandad" Freeman in the The Boondocks, which recently received a two-season reboot order from HBO. It's unclear if Witherspoon managed to record any of his lines for the new episodes. His stand-up comedy also got some mentions, too, as did his participation in Richard Pryor's roast in 1977.

We are sad to say goodbye to John Witherspoon. Most known as Ice Cubes’s Dad in Friday, others knew him as Grandad in The Boondocks and Pop’s from The Wayans Bros.

Here’s one of our favorite scenes of him performing his hit
