What do you do when you see your dog being dragged off into a bush by a cougar? Run? Scream? Say, "Well, bye Felicia?" Would you ever think to punch it? Oddly enough, one man, Shawn Hanson, straight punched a cougar in the face that tried to pull away his Dachshund, Bailey, while he was on a fishing and camping trip near Ucluelet on Vancouver Island. Once the cougar grabbed ahold of the dog, Hanson chased after it. He managed to tackle it on top of a hill, and although the predator did not let go of his dog at first, the cougar immediately stepped back as it absorbed the force of Hanson’s brutal punch. Shawn Hanson will forever remain a badass in our book.

Now, the question is, would people still punch a cougar in the face to save their cat? Are cats as valuable as man’s best friend? Some would beg to differ, but dogs are undeniably better companions than cats. Dogs will go on long walks on the beach and take a dip in the ocean with you, they’ll accompany you at the dinner table, and they’re always waiting for you by the door when you come home from work. Cats, on the other hand, are really just inconsiderate assholes. They won’t go on walks with you, they hate anything that has to do with water, they stink up your dining room with their cat litter, and, to top it all off, they don’t even bother to greet you when you get home. A nice hello purr every once in awhile would be nice. I’m just saying, if it were my cat, the cougar could have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if it wanted to.

And, let’s not forget, the catalyst of this entire fiasco was a big ass cat.
