Hilary Duff isn't the only member of the McGuire clan gearing up for the return of the Lizzie McGuire series. Disney just revealed that the rest of her on-screen family (Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas) will return for the Disney+ sequel series.
“We are incredibly excited to bring back one of the most popular Disney Channel series of all time along with some beloved and familiar faces,” said Ricky Strauss of Disney+ in a press release. “With Terri at the helm and Hilary, Hallie, Robert, and Jake back after all these years, it’s our honor to welcome the McGuire family into the Disney+ family.”
The series will follow a 30-something McGuire as she deals with living a life that isn't quite what her teenaged self would want. McGuire will sort out her life in Brooklyn with the help of her animated 13-year-old self. The cast met up for their first read-through together in 15 years earlier this week. Lizzie McGuire will be one of the launch titles of the upcoming Disney streaming service.
"The original series holds a special place in the hearts of so many, and we can't wait to introduce fans, both old and new, to an older, wiser, yet still perfectly imperfect Lizzie," Disney Channels Worldwide president Gary Marsh said.
