Emilia Clarke has finally revealed who left the coffee cup in that infamous Season 8 shot from Game of Thrones. The actress said that the cup belonged to Conleth "Varys" Hill, while stopping by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Clarke told the late-night host that Hill came clean at a party before the Emmys. “Here’s the truth: We had a party before the Emmys recently and Conleth, who plays Varys—who’s sitting next to me in that scene—he pulls me aside and he’s like, ‘Emilia, I have got to tell you something, love. The coffee cup was mine,'” she said.
Fallon, for his part, pointed out a bit of buck-passing among the cast and crew of Thrones. In the days after the show aired, the cup was blamed on Jason Momoa and Clarke's co-star Sophie Turner blamed it on the Mad Queen herself. Clarke held strong to her version of events, however.
“It was his! It was Conleth’s coffee cup! He said so,” she said. "He said, ‘I think it was, I am sorry, darling. I didn’t want to say anything because it seemed the heat was very much on you.'”
The cast all joked about the cup at this year's Comic-Con and while Conleth Hill didn't speak out then, at least one actor was on the defensive about another mistake. John Bradley (played Samwell Tarly) said he was not responsible for a left-behind water bottle in a late-in-the-season shot.
"I'm right-handed. So if I'm drinking a water bottle, with my right hand, right?" Bradley said of the bottle that was on his left.
Back on Fallon, Clarke promoted her non-Thrones work on the upcoming movie Last Christmas and played Fallon's "Box of Lies" game. Take a look at those segments below.
