It's been a bumpy ride for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as of late, but today Sony and Marvel Studios officially announced they would join forces again. Last month it was reported that Sony had ended its partnership with Marvel Studios, effectively pulling Spider-Man out of the MCU. Following a volatile reaction from some passionate fans, the companies have come to an understanding and will co-produce another Spider-Man film.
Kevin Fiege and Amy Pascal will return for producer duties, while Tom Holland will also take on the iconic role of Peter Parker once more. "I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," Fiege said, echoing the sentiments of countless Marvel and Spidey fans.
Needless to say, fans are overjoyed at the news. Holland himself is just as happy, too, posting a clip of Leonardo DiCaprio's Wolf of Wall Street character's speech; "I'm not fuckin' leaving!"
His co-star Zendaya also hopped on Twitter to share her excitement at the news.
Fans flocked on Twitter to share their excitement at the news, reiterating that Spidey is back where he belongs.
Others used this as a moment to suggest a potential crossover that has been long overdue.
But, of course, some highlighted how it seemed as though the split wouldn't last all that long anyway.
The untitled third Spider-Man film is scheduled to hit theaters July 16, 2021.
