Edward Furlong will reprise his role as John Connor in the upcoming Terminatorsequel according to io9.

The actor who last played Connor in 1997's Terminator 2: Judgment Daywill reprise the role in the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate, which deals with the fallout of Sarah Connor's decision to sabotage Cyberdyne Systems before it could become Skynet at the end of T2. We already knew that the film will ignore all other Terminator sequels, other than T2. The additional details of the sequel/reboot were shared at the famed Hall H of San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.

“In the Terminator universe there is only one timeline,” director Tim Miller said, in an attempt to explain why the actors at the heart of the original movie were returning.

In addition to Furlong's return, Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger will take on their roles of Sarah Connor and the Terminator once again.

“The richness of my life experience is only going to enhance the character I play,” Hamilton said of her decision to come back to the franchise. “The hard work I did was the deep exploration of a woman who’s an outsider whose life hasn’t worked out...I had to go to my deepest sorrows and places of deepest loss, and that’s what makes Sarah Connor, Sarah Connor.”

While Schwarzenegger had the longest road back to the series, given that he's 71-years-old and meant to be playing an undying robot from the future, he was the most committed to returning to any project in the Terminator universe.

“Of course I was going to come back. I’m addicted to Terminator,” he said. Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Diego Boneta, and Gabriel Luna also star.

Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters on November 1.
