The new Midnight Society for Nickelodeon's upcoming Are You Afraid of the Dark?limited series has been cast, according to Deadline. As they report, the re-booted '90s fave will feature a group of storytelling (pre)teens comprised of Sam Ashe Arnold (Best. Worst. Weekend. Ever.), Jeremy Taylor (It, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Lyliana Wray (Black-ish, Top Gun: Maverick), and Miya Cech (Rim of the World).

Deadline adds that the three-episode series will see the kids telling the tale of the Carnival of Doom, and that the events of that tale will come to life. The ringleader of that carnival will be portrayed by Rafael Casal (Blindspotting).

The revival was first announced back in February, and at that time Nickelodeon said that "the miniseries will coincide with the upcoming Are You Afraid of the Dark? theatrical movie from Paramount Pictures, Paramount Players’ and Nickelodeon Movies, in theaters October 2019." Deadline reports that the original release date of that flick has been pushed back from its initial October 11 date, and it will come out at an unannounced time following "some behind-the-scene changes" (though Halloween ain't moving, so...).

In either event, the Are You Afraid of the Dark? comeback signifies just one of a few ideas that Nickelodeon has plucked from the nostalgia well, alongside plans of an All Thatrevival, a Blue's Clues remake, and some Spongebob spinoffs.
