Kim K 'Can No Longer Sit Silent' About Companies Like Fashion Nova Ripping Off Designs

Kim Kardashian, without naming names, came through with a message of condemnation. "I don't support what these companies are doing," she said.

Kim Kardashian has a problem with sites like Fashion Nova, a company perhaps best known for once hosting a party in which Bhad Bhabie allegedly tossed a cup of water at Iggy Azalea.

In a series of tweets Tuesday, Kardashian called out Fashion Nova for its launch of a pre-sale for a dress she says is a ripoff of the vintage Mugler dress she wore at the Hollywood Beauty Awards on Sunday. Without naming Fashion Nova or similar companies, Kardashian also pointed to their habit of profiting off her husband Kanye West with similar copy tactics.

It’s devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat and tears of true designers who have put their all into their own original ideas.

I’ve watched these companies profit off my husband’s work for years and now that it’s also affecting designers who have been so generous to give me access to their beautiful works, I can no longer sit silent.

Only two days ago, I was privileged enough to wear a one-of-a-kind vintage Mugler dress and in less than 24 hours it was knocked off and thrown up on a site - but it's not for sale. You have to sign up for a waitlist because the dress hasn’t even been made to sell yet.

This is a way to get people to sign up for their mailing list and make people believe there is some kind of relationship between me and this fashion site. There is not.

Fashion Nova responded to TMZ with the following statement:

"Fashion Nova is an ultra-fast fashion brand that is capable of executing design within hours and believes in fairness in pricing. We strive to offer our customers affordable leading trends. We respect the fashion community and work with a variety of vendors, designers, influencers and celebrities to keep our style offering fresh and relevant.

As TMZ noted in their equally compelling article about some tweets, this is likely the Fashion Nova dress Kardashian is referencing:

Despite Fashion Nova's claims that they can complete designs within hours, many people theorized Kardashian had some kind of working relationship with the very brands she publicly condemns. Some are convinced the reality TV star "leaks" her looks to these companies so they can create a replica in a timely manner—a theory Kardashian firmly denied Tuesday.

My relationships with designers are very important to me. It's taken me over a decade to build them and I have a huge amount of respect for the amount of work that they put into bringing their ideas to life.

I often plan for weeks, sometimes months, and even a year in advance, and I’m grateful for every fashion moment those designers and their dresses have helped me create.

So, as always, don’t believe everything you read and see online. I don’t have any relationships with these sites. I’m not leaking my looks to anyone, and I don’t support what these companies are doing.

But here's the twist: Hours before Fashion Nova shared the Mugler replica on its webiste, house model Yodit Yemane posted the photo options from the shoot on her Instagram story. The IG account Diet Prada points out the Fashion Nova image files were labeled "Kim Dress" and were dated Feb. 14, 2019, four days before Kardashian wore the dress in public.

"Did Fashion Nova whip up the dress overnight in their Los Angeles atelier after seeing Kim in it," Diet Prada wrote on Instagram, "or is she peddling her vintage finds to mass retailers ahead of debuting them for a calculated, timely release??"

Earlier in the day, Kardashian sent out a tribute tweet to fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, who died Tuesday at age 85. Kardashian, who worked with Lagerfeld on her first fashion shoot years ago, called the Chanel creative director a "true legend" whose contributions to the fashion world will be missed.

We lost a true legend! You were such an inspiration to the world! You shot my first fashion shoot & I was so nervous to work w such an icon! The world is so much chicer because u existed! I’m beyond honored to have had the opportunity to work w u. U are so loved & will be missed pic.twitter.com/0BSXoLDNN7
