Marvel gave us the bleak first peek of the Avengers: Endgame movie yesterday and it looks. Those darkest timeline vibes couldn't quell fans' thirst, though. Fans viewed the trailer 289 million times within the first 24 hours after it was posted, handily breaking the single-day record.

To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours! pic.twitter.com/oWBDCe4e0m

Marvel thanked their die-hard followers for sharing and viewing the trailer (as well as sticking with them through 19 movies).

"To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!" they wrote.

The previous record was unsurprisingly held by another Avengers movie. Infinity War's trailer racked up 230 million views, well behind Endgame's impressive numbers.

The trailer record caps off a great month of pre-release buzz for Marvel's parent company, Disney. The Lion King trailer was viewed 224.6 million times in a day, the best for a non-Avengers film. Endgame is due April 26.
