Following a string of box office disappointments, DC Entertainment is looking to redeem itself with its highly anticipated Aquaman film. And judging by the project’s first preview, there’s a strong chance the project will finally turn the tide.

Warner Bros. debuted the Aquaman trailer during a San Deigo Comic-Con panel on Saturday. The James Wan-directed film stars Jason Momoa as the titular character, who is summoned back to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis as it prepares for war. Aquaman's archenemy Black Manta makes an appearance.

“I want our film to be a little different, a bit more unique, so to speak,” Wan said during the panel. “So my movie in some ways plays more like a science fiction fantasy film than a traditional superhero movie.”

The film co-stars Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. You can check out the trailer above.

Aquaman will hit the big screen on Dec. 21.
