On this week's episode of Open Late, Peter Rosenberg sat down with Vic Mensa for a candid conversation that included his thoughts on Kanye's recent controversial comments about slavery.

"I hope he addresses that shit in a real way, and can speak to some of those things he said that were damaging to us," he explained. "Maybe there was a lot more to it, but the idea of slavery being a choice, just like statements like that kind of being put out without so much context is really damaging for us."

Mensa also revealed he has new material coming this summer, which kicks off with "Reverse," a collaboration with G-Eazy and Marshmello. "This is off a new collection of music," he said. "I got a studio in the crib right now in L.A., and I've just been locked in, really just honing in on the message.

Awkwafina stopped by to talk about her major role in Ocean's 8, and Rosenberg welcomed Damien Lemon, Robin Lundberg, and Everyday Struggle co-host Wayno for a roundtable debate about Trump, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the national anthem. They also shared their thoughts on Kanye West's new album, Ye.
