Genre: Comedy
Director: Mike Mills
Stars: Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, Melanie Laurent, Goran Visnjic, Kai Lennox

Those who paid attention to Hollywood’s recent awards season definitely know about Beginners, which is most recognized for co-star Christopher Plummer’s Oscar-winning performance, which also won just about every other possible “supporting actor” prize known to man.

And the elder statesman certainly earned each and every one of them. Alongside an also strong Ewan McGregor, Plummer plays a kind-hearted man who reveals his homosexuality to his son (McGregor) at the better-late-than-never age of 75. Mike Mills, who wrote the script based around his own life experiences, handles the material with so much warmth and contagious elation that it’s impossible not to share the positive sentiments.
