Emerging Ontario area rapper Seko is ready to make a name for himself with “Bounce Baby,” his first official release under Canadian indie label Nyce Sound Productions.

The MC certainly knows how to make an entrance: his charismatic, heavy-hitting flow is immediately attention-grabbing. The track’s speaker-shaking beat, helmed by Toronto’s T-Nyce—who’s produced for SaweetieCardi B, and most recently, local rapper Tia Bank$—is undeniably entrancing.

Seko’s voice “has been compared to the late great Christopher Wallace also known as B.I.G.,” according to a press release. The parallels aren’t immediately obvious on this track, but his delivery does have a Biggie-esque heft and ’90s New York swagger to it, so we’ll give him that.

“When I wrote Bounce Baby all I could think about was if an HBCU band was to play it how would it feel so I took that and a lot of things I was going through and made it into an anthem that people can wake up and feel like champions to,” Seko tells Complex Canada.

Alongside his new single, Seko has released an accompanying music video, features an energetic performance from the Ontario rapper and dynamic visual effects.

Through themes of hurt and persistence, Seko uses his storytelling skills to bring listeners into his world. Despite being in the nascent stages on his careers, he’s spent 10 years rapping, writing and freestyling, allowing him to master his craft. He takes an honest approach to music, confessing all his fears and aspirations on the track to give us a better understanding of his reality.
