Days after playfully exchanging diss tracks with his podcast co-host Royce da 5’9’, Lupe Fiasco has announced that their “Lupe & Royce” show will be no more.

Less than a year since the show’s inception, Lupe has announced on Instagram Live that podcasting isn’t—and truthfully never really was—in his heart. In his announcement, the MC shares that he went ahead with the podcast for the sake of his friend and co-host SayWhatMedia’s Tom Frank, and that he enjoyed the experience chopping it up with the two despite departing over creative differences.

“I think we just reached a state now where that’s kind of like an untenable relationship,” Lupe said, per HotNewHipHop.

Lupe shared that their last episode, “Gold,” was still their funniest to date, adding that he’s glad the rappers went out on a high note with their latest project.

“I’m not doing that no more,” Lupe said. “But again, it’s not something that’s done out of ill will, this is something that’s been kind of building for a little bit. And again, my heart wasn’t 100% in the podcast anyway, with Royce, without Royce, by myself, on my own. So shoutout to everybody who tuned into the podcast, really appreciate it… But yeah man, that’s probably the end of an era. And just kind of moving on to other things.”

“Lupe & Royce” first kicked off back in October, and the pair ran through 45 episodes alongside Tom during the show’s time—where they discussed politics, hip-hop and just about whatever else came to mind. Peep their final show below.
