This week, Netflix shared Act 1 of the Coodie & Chike-directed jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, giving fans a moving and intimate look at the artist formerly known as Kanye West during some of the most pivotal moments of his pre-College Dropout career.

One scene that’s received considerable attention since the doc’s premiere shows Ye playing a version of “All Falls Down” to various disinterested individuals at the Roc-A-Fella offices. Amid the ensuing commentary brought on by a clip of the scene in question being shared to Twitter, Wayne “Wayno” Clark—who previously worked as an assistant A&R at the label and co-hosted Complex’s Everyday Struggle—shared his own recollections of Ye in this era.

So crazy how Kanye West played All Falls Down and they didn’t realize how big of a hit it was going to be. #JeenYuhs was great can’t wait for the other parts pic.twitter.com/RR6yCWTBl5

“Lmao the context behind this is he played this song in the office and did this with a camera crew like 10x , how many times can you have a crazy reaction to something you’ve heard 10x it was kind of annoying at that point,” the Triangle Offense founder, who recently joined Quality Control as VP of A&R, said.

In subsequent tweets, Wayno argued that people in the offices weren’t accustomed to such frequent video recording and stated that “nobody at Roc disliked Kanye.” He also made a point to mention Ramses Francois, a Roc-A-Fella alum, by name.

That same week, Ye will present his Donda Experience Performance in Miami. As previously reported, a rep for Ye has told Complex that the Feb. 22 Donda 2-focused event will be an outright live performance, not a listening event.

Y’all also gotta realize this is at a time when phones ain’t even have cameras on em , he came with a camera crew all the time recording everything. People weren’t used to that , Chaka hair ain’t even done you think she was happy to be on camera? 🤣

Ima stop talking but it’s amazing that people will tell me what happened in a video clip when I was actually there worked there and I’m in the damn clip 🤣🤣🤣

When people mention Kanye please mention Ramses Francois who was an A&R with myself & Travis Cummings there might not be footage on the doc but Ramses was one of Kanye’s biggest supporters at Roc & always took the time to listen to his music , Travis and myself as well.

Nobody at Roc disliked Kanye but it’s evident he didn’t fit in at a label that was mainly artists from the streets , but that’s exactly how & why it worked because he was so different it really stood out.

Ramses doesn’t get any recognition because after Roc he didn’t do much in music but if you look in all those albums you’ll see his credits.
