J Balvin and Ed Sheeran have teamed up for a new two-song release consisting of collaborative singles “Sigue” and “Forever My Love,” both of which got the music video treatment.

The artists spoke with New Music Daily on Apple Music 1 about the process of collaborating on the tracks. “They were made in a very, very, very natural way,” Sheeran explained. “It wasn’t a labels reaching out sort of thing. We met in a gym and made friends first, and then later on we started making music and it just happened very organically. And yeah, I’m really excited to put them out, and see what you people think.”

Sheeran, who sings in Spanish on both songs, revealed he picked up the language to work on his contributions. “I learned Spanish for them, which took a while. So I guess that’s my new party trick,” the 31-year-old joked. “Yeah, I guess that’s a skill that it shows off.”

Balvin, 36, added, “The songs came about love and about partying. We wanted to do the best of both worlds, with [what] Ed Sheeran does and what we do.”

Balvin shared that the collaborations came out of a recording session in New York. “The recording process was amazing,” he said. We became friends first and then we didn’t plan it,” he said. “We were just in New York and we started vibing and then…here we are. Life put us together and that’s why we just did this amazing project. We came great friends and here we are.”
