Duke Deuce has just dropped his latest song, which delivers another sample of the Memphis rapper’s skills after appearing on Isaiah Rashad’s song “Lay Wit Ya.”
“WTF!” is as literal as it is loud. With “what the fuck” being screamed the entire time in the background of the song. Deuce is straight and to the point here, using the repetition of the hook to his advantage as he rides it through the entire track without saying much else. Deuce also dropped an album earlier this year, Duke Nukem, that came with an all-star lineup of features from Offset (who discovered him), ASAP Ferg, and more.
When Complex caught up with Deuce back when the pandemic lockdown was still in full force, the rapper talked about how he was grateful for the way the video for “Crunk Ain’t Dead” received and how he was able to get on the same track with some Memphis icons.
“I think people are really enjoying ‘Crunk Ain’t Dead.’ The remix, too,” Duke said. “That thing’s been making a lot of noise. It’s gotten a ton of attention. The remix came together pretty easily. I wasn’t sold on the idea, but my team really wanted to do another version. We got Project Pat on there, and he got Lil Jon. It’s a blessing being on a track with some Memphis legends. Getting the OGs on my track was a big goal.”
He also chopped it up with Complex News and talked about what it’s like being one of the hottest up-and-coming artists out of Memphis, adjusting to fame, and more.
