Beyoncé finally unveiled the title and release date for her follow-up to 2016’s Lemonade last week, and now fans can expect to get their first taste tonight.
“6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET,” reads her bio on both Instagram and Twitter.
Eagle-eyed fans first noticed Queen B was scheming something up when she deleted her profile pictures on social media, and once again they’ve been rewarded for paying close attention to her every move. Spotify and Tidal have since confirmed the record drops tonight.
The-Dream also shared a tweet about the song, perhaps indicating his involvement. Bey and Dream have collaborated extensively in the past, notably on tracks such as “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “XO.”
As previously revealed, Beyoncé’s new 16-song project Renaissance is due to arrive on July 29, and presumably “Break My Soul” will be its first single. Alongside the announcement of her highly-anticipated return, Bey also teased that this is just “act i,” implying even more new music will follow. The record is available to pre-order now in the form of four various box sets, featuring a physical CD alongside a photo booklet, mini poster, and T-shirt.
Though recent years have yielded a collaborative effort with husband Jay-Z, Everything Is Love, and The Lion King: The Gift, Bey hasn’t shared a solo studio album since Lemonade arrived in 2016. Needless to say, fans were absolutely thrilled to hear about her return when she made the low-key announcement. Outside of the date and title, however, details remain under wraps.
