YG Reportedly Arrested for Involvement in Robbery (UPDATE)

UPDATED 1/24, 7:00 p.m. ET: TMZ now reports that YG's bail has been set at $250,000."This has become even more outrageous ... normally, in the American justice system, you get arrested after an investigation is completed," his attorney, Joe Tacopina told the outlet. "The motives here are pretty clear."

"This arrest is one that caught YG completely off guard because there is no truth to them," he added. "YG has no idea what investigators are talking about and we have not been provided with any details ... we are learning about this case through the media."

Tacopina also brought up YG's scheduled performance at Sunday's Grammy's. "YG has a performance scheduled at The Grammys Sunday where he will honor Nipsey Hussle ... so the timing is suspect, to put it mildly," he said.

YG was reportedly arrested Friday after Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived at his home in the San Fernando Valley with search and arrest warrants in connection with a robbery case.

According to TMZ, authorities arrived around 4 a.m. local time Friday morning, ultimately taking YG into custody.

Complex has reached out to YG's rep for comment and will update this post accordingly.

As Friday's TMZ report notes, an SUV said to be owned by YG was involved in a chase last July in Los Angeles, though it's not clear if that case has any connection at all to Friday's robbery-related arrest and search. That chase, according to authorities, resulted in someone in the vehicle fatally shooting a man on a bicycle. At the time, YG was at a studio in Hollywood and said he "didn't learn of these events" until after they had happened.
