Childish Gambino's "This Is America" May End Drake's 15-Week Run at No. 1

Drake could see his run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart end because of Gambino's latest record.

The "This Is America" wave has only just begun.

If current projections hold true, there's a very strong chance that the new Childish Gambino single—bolstered by an instaclassic Hiro Murai video—will take the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 from longtime owner Drake.

All told, Billboardreported Friday, the Gambino track is expected to pull more than 50 million streams for the week and 8 million in radio. Drake's "Nice for What," which was preceded at the top by his own "God's Plan," has been hanging out at No. 1 for four weeks. "God's Plan" spent 11 weeks at No. 1, which means a Gambino takeover would end a 15-week run from the Toronto rapper.

Wherever "This Is America" ends up debuting, it will go down as the highest charting song in his career. Last year, the Awaken, My Love! single "Redbone" just missed the top 10 by landing at No. 12 off the strength of Get Out's move into awards season.

As for those still hoping Gambino was going to tell you how to interpret the "America" video, why? Also, that's thankfully not going to happen, as Gambino would rather leave that to the people. "Some friends have sent, like, a couple, but to be real, I haven't been on the internet since Thursday night before the Saturday Night Live," he told Jimmy Kimmel when asked if he was following the analytical pieces being penned about the video. "Just because I was like I don't wanna be in all the… It's bad for me. I'm really sensitive, so I'm just, like, I'll just let it be."
