Donald Glover took his musical alter ego Childish Gambino to Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show on Wednesday to perform material from his brand-new album Awaken, My Love!

Awaken, My Love! was released to rave reviews (though not from everyone), and was one of the top-selling albums in the country the week it was released. Glover also just released a new virtual reality-enhanced video for the track "Me and Your Mama."

The album features a heavy funk influence, with Glover mentioning the Isley Brothers and Funkadelic as touchstones. That was apparent in the Tonight Show performance, where a shirtless Glover performed "Redbone."

You can see the performance in its funky entirety above.

Fans were thrilled to see Glover take his Awaken... material to the stage.

@FallonTonight @donaldglover Dope performance!!

Some people speculated that the singer/actor/comedian/rapper's new mustache was there because of his upcoming role as Lando Calrissian.

Glover's singing received props from one of the greatest vocalists out there, Anthony Hamilton:

In addition to Glover's musical output, the multi-talented star just received a Golden Globe nomination for his work on Atlanta, the FX show he created and stars in. The show also received a nomination for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy. Glover already won a Critics' Choice Award for his acting on the show.
