Birdman Says 'Rich Gang 2' Project With Young Thug Could Drop This Summer

Thug claimed he wasn't releasing music this year, but the Birdman collab 'Rich Gang 2' could drop soon.

Earlier this year, Young Thug claimed he wasn’t going to release any music until 2019. “I’ve got a deaf brother,” he told Hypebeast. “I’ve got a brother who can’t hear or talk, so I want to act deaf for a year. So I ain’t going to put out no music this year.”

Fortunately for us, not only did we a fairly promising Instagram post teasing a potential Thugger/Gambino collab, but Birdman just suggested that the sequel to 2014’s Rich Gang: The Tour Part 1, a Young Thug/Birdman/Rich Homie Quan project, could be dropping as early as this summer.

According to Billboard, the Cash Money mogul said he and Thug were “looking at the summertime” to release Rich Gang 2, and that Birdman has nothing but respect and admiration for his fellow artist. “Thug is like my brother,” he told Rap-Up. “Love him to death. Solid. One of the realest I ever met in this game. As far as artist-wise, he’s the super talented one, so he led the way on the project and what we wanted to do. I think it’s super dope.”

And finally, he uttered the words we all wanted to hear: “We got a whole album, me and Thug.”

But that isn’t the only contemporary MC Birdman showered with praise during that same interview, as the No. 1 Stunna put some heavy respect on YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s name, as well. “Talent-wise? He’s an animal. He’s a monster,” said Birdman. “I had the pleasure of being around him, see how he worked, and I think he’s gonna be the next biggest superstar in the world, as the youngsters. I watched his ethics, he’s very intelligent. I’m anxious and excited to see what’s gonna happen.”

While we wait for Rich Gang 2, you might want to revisit the initial project, as well as Birdman’s Before Anythang, which contains features from not only Thugger, but 2 Chainz, Migos, Kodak Black, and others. In regards to the Gambino collab, we’ll just have to patiently wait—as we are, eagerly, for Thug’s Hi-Tunes project, which he recently claimed was coming next year. Hang tight, everyone.
