After being featured on Don Toliver’s latest work Life of a Don, Houston-based rapper HVN has dropped a new track which arrives with news of his deal with Interscope Records.

“Marine” is a fluid and buoyant offering, with HVN’s voice gliding through a wave of glitchy Auto-Tune and rapping with a raspy flow. HVN has also signed with Field Trip Records, run by Zack Bia, who you may know as the DJ responsible for the biggest Instagram Live party of 2020, with Drake, Bella Hadid, and others emerging in the comments. (Bia will also make an appearance at ComplexCon, where he’ll speak about his time with the label.)

In an interview with Pigeons & Planes last year, HVN spoke on how he’s just trying to enjoy making music.

“I’ve been through a lot of dark times,” said HVN, who has sickle cell anemia. “So honestly, I don’t know how to put into words how I’m feeling about everything. I’m just enjoying it, and I’m very thankful for everyone behind me and especially the city of Houston.”

HVN also started his own fashion brand called DONTDIE, and is featured in the current Heron Preston and Calvin Klein campaign alongside Nas, Paloma Elsesser, and more.
