Badge Epoque Ensemble New Track "Naturally Conspiring"

Toronto music project Badge Epoque Ensemble has joined forces with Toronto band Lammping as well as rappers Boldy James and Roshin for their new single “Naturally Conspiring.”

“On my corner gotta keep your 40 like an open beer/Hully Gully sonic boom/A n***a with a solar flare/Can’t come near me they don’t compare,” Boldy James raps in his opening verse.

Along with the track, the Toronto-based ensemble announced the title and release date of their forthcoming collaborative album with Lammping. Clouds of Joy: Chance of Reign is due out on November 18, a follow-up project to their previous album from 2022 Clouds of Joy.

“Naturally Conspiring” features a soothing choir with calm-and-collected rapping from veteran Boldy James who commandeers the first verse followed by Roshin’s nonchalant slew of bars.

Badge Epoque Ensemble and Lammping came together for their collaborative album partly thanks to their shared drummer Jay Anderson and for their shared love of jazz, funk, soul, and psychedelic music.

Badge Epoque Ensemble is a musical collective based out of Toronto and led by musician Max Turnbull. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2020 and was a longlisted nominee for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.

Meanwhile, Boldy James continues his streak of working with Canadians. He dropped collaborative album Fair Exchange No Robbery with Montreal producer Nicholas Craven, as well as single “The Ring” with Ev Bird.
