Best known as an original member of the Neighbourhood, Bryan Sammis left last year to forge his own solo path as Olivver The Kid. With a penchant for smoked out pop laced with R&B and nostalgia, he made a seamless transition as he released his debut EP and joined Halsey and Young Rising Sons on the sold out American Youth tour.
Freshly debuted by Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Olivver's new song "World On Fire" paints a portrait of pop pandemonium as he tries to grapple with the world around him. Fervent synths and a blustering backbeat provide instant gratification as the lyrics cut across the track's relentless expanse, torching chaos and singeing rejection with a vengeance that drags you to the world's dark edge before bringing you back again. "'World on Fire' is about not being a victim to circumstance," Bryan said to Complex. "[It's about] learning to live within the chaos. Adapting to every single thing that life can throw at you. Taking control of your own future, of your own destiny."
After a year of experimenting with his sound, "World On Fire" sets a searing new tone. Listen to our exclusive online premiere below and look for Olivver The Kid's forthcoming EP The Boy Who Cried Wolf to drop October 16.
