It’s fairly safe to assume at this point that Fredo’s building up to something this year. His two solo joints—“I’m Back” and “Everybody Knows”—gave us Fredo at the very height of his powers and a collaboration with Stormzy, “Toxic Trait”, has put him at three for three. Now he’s back with another new single, “Scoreboard”, which features guest vocals from Tiggs Da Author.
Produced by Show N Prove, “Scoreboard” keeps it strictly to the fundamentals. Pairing a spartan instrumental with Fredo’s steady-handed delivery, it almost feels like a mission statement for what’s to come.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise either, given the empire-building Fredo’s been doing between releases. He’s launched a clothing line, Parental Guidance, a new record label, PG Records, and Kick Game, the sneaker and streetwear store he has a stake in, continues to go from strength to strength.
For the video, the West London rapper teamed up with director Don Prod who follows Fredo and Tiggs on a trip out to Barbados. Connecting with the locals and taking in the sights, you’d be hard pressed to think of a better spot to celebrate such a victorious run.
