Last night, the tragic news broke that Birmingham-born MC Bomma B, sometimes known as J Bomma B, had passed away. The circumstances of his death have not yet been revealed.

Alongside names like Trilla, Deadl R£al, MNT, K Dot, and the rest of the 0121 set, Bomma B was a relentless force in bassline, pushing the sound forward when the rest of the country was turning its nose up at the scene. Although there’s a healthy stack of rap and grime recordings out there testifying to Bomma’s versatility on the mic, it’s in bassline he’ll be most fondly remembered, both as a solo artist and with the Bully Boys.

Even if he didn’t quite get the credit and respect he deserved while he was with us, figures from all across music have taken to Twitter to salute Bomma B and pay their respects.
