Sean Garrett attends 2020 Leaders and Legends Ball

The-Dream and fellow ATLien, Sean Garrett, are two of the most prolific songwriters in R&B history. This along with nationwide social distancing prompted the two to put together a virtual battle featuring all the hits they've written. Normally, the art is supposed to take center stage during these battles. Yet, Sean Garrett and his antics could help but steal the show.

Fans could tell that this battle was different than the sparring matches held by artists like Boi-1da and Hit-Boy just by the way Garret and The-Dream were setting up the event. The two exchanged a series of Instagram videos explaining how the event was orchestrated. During Garrett's video, it was clear that he was very passionate about his feelings towards the battle.

After this battle? They gotta fight lol. Cause THIS type of talk is BEYOND the music. That’s all ima say 👀pic.twitter.com/TgO33HY2tt

This energy carried over into the battle. After being late, Garrett gave a nearly 10-minute speech about his love for music, Roc Nation, and respect for The-Dream. The whole time Garrett is talking, The-Dream decided to hit golf balls into his pool.

When the battle finally commenced, Garrett suffocated the camera with his face while passionately lip-syncing his hits. This behavior spawned a series of memes, comments, and tweets.
