Canadian legends Kardinal Offishall, Jully Black, and Deborah Cox are slated to perform at The Black Academy’s first-ever Legacy Awards this Sept. 25.
The brand-new event was created to celebrate Black culture and excellence in this country, as well as showcase emerging Canadian talent to a wider audience.
Other music acts on the bill include Keysha Freshh, Izzy-S, SATE, Savannah Ré, and DJ 4KORNERS. They’ll be joined by internet personality King Bach, former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, as well as media personalities Arisa Cox, Brandon Gonez, Kathleen Newman-Bremang, Amanda Parris, and Odario Williams.
The Black Academy was founded by Canadian actors and brothers Shamier Anderson and Stephan James, and they’ll also host the inaugural 90-minute Legacy Awards.
Organizers say the complete lineup and public ticket information will be announced in the coming weeks. The Legacy Awards will be held Sunday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET at History in Toronto and broadcast live on CBC and CBC Gem.
