Music from The Land has been releasing in recent weeks, and on Wednesday, we get another offering from Erkyah Badu and Nas called “This Bitter Land.”
The song is intense in nature with Badu starting off with some soothing croons, while Nas shares some emotional verses about troubled teenagers trying to make out of the streets. “It’s a test, life is like a test / Life is like a hood – hard / Trying not to fall between the cracks, and the cracks is so dark / And the dark seems more appealing than the light,” he raps.
Nas is an executive producer for the film and is the producer behind the soundtrack. Badu stars in the film that focus on four Cleveland teenagers with dreams of becoming professional skateboarders, but they run into some problems when they get wrapped up in a drug operation. The film is produced by Lizzie Friedman alongside Karen Lauder, Greg Little, Tyler Davidson, Stephen Love, and Blake Pickens.
The Land soundtrack also features songs from Machine Gun Kelly (“Dopeman”) and Ezzy (“Goodbye”). Check out “This Bitter Land” below, and watch The Land when it hits theaters on July 29.
