Wale Isn't Going Anywhere on New Song "Staying Power"

It seems like the D.C. rapper has definitely parted ways with Atlantic Records.

It hasn’t been long since Wale dropped a single—he offered us “All Star Break Up” on Feb. 13 — and now he's returned yet again with the single “Staying Power.” The title speaks for itself: the D.C. rapper is declaring that he isn’t going anywhere. While on “All Star Break Up” Wale was a bit more melodious, on “Staying Power” it's obvious that he's here to rap. He’s as boastful as possible, not only bragging about his abilities as a rapper, but attempting to showcase his skill through his pen. He ends the song stating, “I can out-rap my opponents,” and “I’m back in my zone.”

On “All Star Break Up,” Hip Hop N More interestingly pointed out that Atlantic Records wasn’t listed as the label for the single. That release only included stamps by Maybach Music Group and Every Blue Moon—and it's the same case with “Staying Power.” There was a clear question about the status of Wale’s contract with Atlantic, which he clarifies in the first verse of his new song: “Left Atlantic 'bout a minute later/Every record label try and scout me.” The same day that "All Star Break Up" released, an Atlantic Spokesperson also told DJ Booth that, “Wale is no longer with us.”

Wale has recently been in the news due to his ongoing beef with the villainous Tomi Lahren. The two had an internet brawl over Jay Z's interview with Van Jones on CNN.
