UPDATED 7/22, 5:17 p.m. ET: Chinese police determined that the accusations against Kris Wu were âthe result of three different elaborate schemes to malign and fraud him,â Variety reports.
Their investigation determined that Wuâs main accuser, Du Meizhu, fabricated her story to become popular online. And while she posted the accusations, they were allegedly written by a man who wanted to âspin profit from the situation.â
Police say a third party also got involved, and tried to extort both sides.Â
After the investigation, Du doubled down on her claims on social media. âI donât want to take up public resources anymore. I hope this will end soon. Iâm truly so tired,â she wrote on Thursday.Â
According to the police report, Du attended a casting call for a music video before going to a party at Wuâs house, where she consumed alcohol. They eventually had intercourse, and she left the following morning. The two are said to have kept in touch after their encounter.
âSo many women who were tricked have come to find me; Iâve already done all I can to give them a voice,â Du added. âYou can say Iâm sensationalizing to become famous online â whatever you want to say is fine, I donât care. Perhaps thereâs no outcome that will satisfy everyone, but Iâve tried my best.â

Kris Wu, who has become one of the biggest stars in China, is facing allegations of sexual abuse from at least eight women.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first to come forward was 19-year-old Du Meizhu, who says the 30-year-old rapper and actor coerced her into having sex with him in when she was 17 by promising to help her gain opportunities in the entertainment industry. She says they had sex after he got her drunk and she blacked out. China, which is where the incident is alleged to have taken place, has an age of consent of 14. Meizhu revealed to the Chinese website NetEase that she knows at least eight other victims, two of which are minors.
Wu has since shut down her allegations and has plans to file a defamation suit. But that didnât stop him from being dropped by nearly all of the Chinese brands that endorse him. He also worked with a number of international brands, like Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Porsche, LancĂ´me, LâOrĂŠal, and more, many of which have distanced themselves from the rapper, who THR describes as one of Chinaâs biggest stars.
Reports also emerged that in an attempt to silence Meizhu, Wu tried to pay her off with over $77,000. However, she said she wanted to be âthe last victimâ and has decided to repay the money and take the matter to court.
On Monday, Wu issued his first response to the accusations, writing on Weibo, âI didnât respond earlier because I didnât want to interfere with judicial proceedings⌠but I cannot bear it anymore.â He explained that he and Meizhu met at a friendâs but he denied her allegations. âIf Iâve done any of the things [she claims], I will take myself to jail,â he added.
Wu has appeared in multiple films including xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which starred Rihanna.
