Wale and Lil Wayne Debut Their New Track "Running Back" on ESPN's 'First Take'

Wale and Lil Wayne performed their new collaborative track, "Running Back," on ESPN's 'First Take.'

After finishing 2016 on a strong note, Wale is wasting no time putting in work in the New Year. On Tuesday, the D.C. rapper appeared on ESPN’s First Take to perform his new cut “Running Back” with Lil Wayne. Billboard reports the single is from Wale’s forthcoming studio album, S.H.I.N.E. (Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy).

The song features the well-known sports buffs mixing rhymes about their money, haters, and women with football references:

“I used to play running back/These niggas be fumbling,” Wale raps. “Don't you give 'em no gun again/This money be flying out here/'Cause money be coming in.”

We got our first taste of “Running Back” several weeks ago, when a behind-the-scenes look at its official music video surfaced.

There’s no word on when the visual will drop, but you while you wait, you can check out the rappers’ First Take performance above.

In addition to the “Running Back” debut, Wale also released the Phil Ade-assisted track “Smile.” You can listen to the feel-good song below.

Wale has been really delivering this past month. In December, he came through with "Groundhog Day," a response to J. Cole's "False Prophets," which was shortly followed by his “Folarin Like" freestyle. He later dropped the music video for "Black and Gold" and then gave fans another sports-themed track called "Heisman Watch."
