Earlier this week, TikTok user Dennis Schweizer shared a video of Roddy Ricch’s recent performance at the Openair Frauenfeld Festival in Switzerland. The clips show the 23-year-old rapper in the middle of his hit 2019 track “The Box,” before he stops mid-verse as a security guard comes running down the stage from behind.
The video then shows a brief scuffle involving festival personnel and an apparent fan who managed to get on the stage. After realizing what was going down, Roddy approaches the commotion before the fan reaches out to grab the rapper’s leg. Roddy reacted by seemingly kicking the concert-goer repeatedly. The overzealous fan was quickly removed and the show continued.
Roddy and his team have yet to comment on the incident, which came nearly a month after the Compton artist was arrested at the Governors Ball Music Festival in Queens, New York. It was later confirmed he had been hit with weapons-related charges, which have since been dismissed. Thankfully for Roddy fans, he was released from custody just hours later and performed at Hot 97’s Summer Jam. During that gig, Roddy led the crowd in a “Fuck the NYPD” chant.
Last week, Lil Uzi Vert received a bit of backlash after one of his fans was injured at London’s Wireless Festival. It’s reported that at one point during Uzi’s set, he grabbed a cellphone that was thrown on stage and chucked it back into the crowd, allegedly hitting an audience member. A video showed the fan with a bloodied face, but a “source close to the situation” insisted Uzi had no intention of hurting anyone.
“During Uzi’s set at Wireless Fest, fans threw multiple cellphones onto the stage and inadvertently struck him,” the insider told the Shade Room. “He merely attempted to clear the phones from the stage, avoid slipping and safely continue his performance—he never intentionally directed it at a specific individual.”
