Octavia Spencer is sounding off on Britney Spears estranged husband Sam Asghari amidst reports that Asghari is trying to renegotiate his prenup with the pop star.
As previously reported, Asghari has filed for divorce after just one year of marriage. Although initial reports cited "irreconcilable differences," Page Six later noted that Asghari is “threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”
Octavia Spencer took issue with Asghari's attempts to extort Spears out of money. The actress jumped in the comments section of an Instagram post about Page Six's report, writing, "Extortion is illegal."
This isn't the first time Spencer has voiced her opinion about Spears' relationship with Asghari. Shortly after the couple announced their engagement last summer, Spencer warned Britney of the risk she was taking, as seen in a since-deleted comment on Spears' Instagram.
"Make him sign a prenup," Spencer wrote, before later claiming that she was simply making a joke about the couple's quick engagement.
"Y’all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke," she shared. "My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of.”
