With the nominations for the 2019 Oscars just around the corner in the new year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the shortlists for documentaries, foreign language films, music, visual effects, and shorts. While there aren't too many surprises, the Best Original Song shortlist includes Sampha's contribution to Beautiful Boy, Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All The Stars" from Black Panther, Sade's "The Big Unknown" from Widows, and Thom Yorke of Radiohead's "Suspirium" from the 2018 remake of Suspiria.

Of course, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper got a nod for their song "Shallows" from A Star Is Born, while Jónsi and Troy Sivan's "Revelation" from Boy Erased also landed on the shortlist. Notably, the Best Original Score shortlist is lacking Thom Yorke's score for Suspiria, and Jonny Greenwood's You Were Never Really Here failed to make the list.

Greenwood received a nomination for the first time last year when he was nominated for Best Original Score for his work on Phantom Thread, although he lost to Alexandre Desplat's The Shape of Water score. Check out the full shortlists for the music-related categories below.
