Ahead of the release of her new project Suga, Megan Thee Stallion sat down with Hot 97 to talk about her lawsuit against her record label 1501. Immediately diving into the issue at hand, Ebro asked Meg about how she was allowed to release her music after 1501 restricted her from doing so. "They ruled in my favor," she said of the court, before admitting that she didn't want the situation to reach the point it has.
"If you know me you know I don't like going back and forth, I don't like a lot of confrontation," she said at the one minute-mark of the interview. "You really gotta push me to upset me, or for me to even address something. So I feel like, you know, it was just time to say something." When asked about what Suga is, whether it's music she's sitting on or if it's even an album, she hesitated to put a label on it.
"I'm not even gonna call it an album, because I'm still in the middle of making my album," she confirmed. "When the situation came up, I'm like, 'Oh my god I gotta put out this music. I don't want to just leave my fans with nothing 'cause I don't know what's gonna happen.' The music that I have made and the songs that I really really like so far, I was like, 'Let's just drop this shit on the EP.'"
Circling back to the lawsuit, Megan mentioned how she can't really talk about it without permission from the court. "I mean my issue is not with money, I just want what's fair," she explained. "I want the proper agreement. I don't want to be treated like an object, I don't want to be treated like a slave. I want to be treated as a human being and... What's right is right and what's fair is fair."
She later addressed what was going on between her and G-Eazy, after they were spotted getting cozy together in a video posted online. "I'm single," she said at the five minute-mark. "It wasn't a fling, it wasn't a club jump-off... I mean, people be turned up in the moment." She added that she didn't find out he posted the video of them kissing until she "got home," but both her and him have said they're "just friends."
"You know, G-Eazy is cute, but I just wanna be single right now," she concluded. Asked if she did want to be in a relationship, she admitted that G-Eazy "could" be an option. "Gerald is a great guy."
