In an interview with Complex, Jason Lee of Hollywood Unlocked claimed that he was contacted by Latto’s team after he shared a post showing off her apparent 21 Savagetattoo.
The speculation was heavily driven by photos and videos that showed Latto with an apparent tattoo of the word “Sheyaa” behind her ear, which many saw as a reference to 21’s birth name, Sheyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph.
Lee said that while he’s got love for Latto, and enjoyed interviewing her in the past, his phone started blowing up about photos showing she had 21’s name tatted behind her ear. “My team put it up. I started getting random calls from numbers telling me to take it down. I thought it was a fake fan playing around on my phone. So I sent the number to my team and they said, ‘I thought it was a fake fan playing around on my phone. So I sent the number to my team and they said, “Oh, this is her publicist...’” he said. “I guess we were the first to post it, but then everybody else had posted it. So now it’s out.”
Lee said he didn’t want to make it seem as if he was giving in to requests from celebs by removing the post. “So I said, ‘No, we gotta keep it up.’ They call back and asked if they could pay to take it down,” Lee continued. “Now, I don’t know that Latto asked that, but I’m like, ‘You think you can actually give me a check to tear away at my credibility for you?’ So I was a little taken aback by that. So we ended up not taking it down.”
Ever since then, Lee has attempted to get in contact with Latto, texting her “a few times,” but she’s yet to respond. “I don’t know if she was mad at me,” he added. “I don’t know if it’s because 21 Savage was allegedly married because he wants to be in the country. I don’t know the politics of that because we don’t talk about that. But I love Latto.”
Earlier this year, Latto responded to speculation she and 21 Savage were romantically linked. A fan straight-up asked in the comments of one of her TikTok posts if they were together, and she replied, “No I’ve said I’m not plenty of times.”
Not long after, she faced more speculation and was forced to respond to someone who suggested she was dating 21. “I whole ass LIVE w my man Ion even CUM 2nd!” she wrote. “Yall need to get off them tea pages & go touch grass! My privacy is driving u up a wall. Mistress to who? Why they don’t see the cars, diamonds, etc? Cause yall know Im spoiled 2 DEATH! Uon know me & Uon got it figured out like AT ALL.”
21 has also denied they’re an item by saying he doesn’t have a “celebrity girlfriend.”
