The rapper and singer announced that she’s joined the TDE family and shared her slick new Kal Banks-produced single “Persuasive.” She’s been rumored to be part of the team for a while, but it’s only now that the news has been announced as being official.
“I’m excited to run with Top Dawg – to work, to have a home for my overflowing ideas,” Doechii said in a statement that was shared with Complex. “I want to create a new vision, a new lane, and so much music. Everyone is invited to the Doechii dominance.”
Doechii, who originally went by the name iamdoechii, has already collaborated with people from the TDE camp before. She performed with Isaiah Rashad at the BET Awards and teamed up with him for “Wat U Sed,” and she also linked up with SZA when she opened for her as part of her Good Days Tour last year. The Tampa-based rapper and singer was named one of the artists to watch in 2022 by Complex’s Pigeons and Planes, and it’s certainly not hard to see what attracted TDE to her distinctive sound.
“Top Dawg Entertainment is all about growth and expansion and providing a platform for talented artists to express their art. With that being said I’d like to welcome Doechii to the TDE team,” TDE founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith said of Doechii joining the team. “Doechii’s energy is infectious and I’m excited to see her blossom and share her gifts with the world.”
TDE President Moosa Tiffith also commented on the signing of Doechii, saying, “Hearing Doechii I knew immediately this woman is a star. Her talent is boundless, fluid and authentic… We are committed to following her limitless vision.”
Thanks to her vibrant videos, explicit lyrics, and infectious energy, Doechii has quickly made a name for herself. In an interview with Complex News’ Alana Yzola last year, she spoke about her viral fame on TikTok following the release of “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake.” She said that while she doesn’t really understand TikTok, she was happy to give the creators who pushed the song their flowers. “I just felt the need to find a cool, interesting, theatrical way to introduce myself to world, and introduce myself to other Black girls like me.”

Following the TDE signing announcement, it was revealed that the label has partnered with Capitol Records to help Doechii “fulfill her artistic ambitions,” according to Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. He added, “Doechii’s energy is contagious and, together with Capitol, we’re committed to helping her share her gifts with the world.”
