Kanye West Fans Want 'Donda 2' So Bad That a Fake Version by 'Wanye Kest' Is Charting on iTunes

Despite Kanye West never actually dropping his new album on a platform other than his $200 Stem Player, 'Donda 2' is still charting on iTunes.

While the download-savvy Ye fans and those who dropped $200 on a Stem Player already have the current version of Donda 2, it appears some just really want it on iTunes—even if it’s not the album they’re looking for.

Despite the artist formerly known as Kanye West never actually dropping the album on a platform other than his own gadget, Donda 2 is still charting on iTunes, as it sits at No. 40 on the Top Hip-Hop Albums chart as of Monday afternoon. But that’s not Donda 2 by Kanye West. It’s Donda 2 by Wanye Kest.

If fans don’t catch the glaring discrepancies—like the artist’s mismatched name and the album’s much-shorter length—it might check out. The 11 songs on the “Kest” album share the same titles as some of those on Ye’s latest release, albeit minus the features. The songs themselves are certainly not Kanye’s work, but some unlucky buyers have fallen for it. (Wanye Kest sadly does not have an album called Weezus.)

The jokes are in full effect, though, as the guys at the Watching the Throne podcast have encouraged their followers to “spot the difference” in the Wanye Kest album and the original Donda 2.

Album title mix-ups aren’t all that uncommon. Back in 2020, Mario Judah released his own version of Whole Lotta Red, shortly before Playboi Carti unleashed the long-teased album of the same name. With the way things are looking now on the Wanye end of things, Clayboi Parti could potentially be next up.
