Damon Albarn Is Upset Kanye 'Trapped' Paul McCartney in an 'Abusive Collaboration'

In a new interview, Albarn characterized Kanye’s collaboration with Paul McCartney as “abusive” and revealed he warned the former Beatle against working with West.

Kanye West is now one of the most divisive figures in pop culture. As people continue to take sides on Ye's recent troubling behavior, Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn shared some thoughts on where he stands with Mr. West. In an interview with the French publication L’obs, per Stereogum, Albarn characterized Kanye’s collaboration with Paul McCartney as “abusive” and revealed he warned the former Beatle against it.

When asked about Kanye’s use of samples on Pusha-T’s new album DAYTONA, Albarn blasted Ye without hesitation. “I do not sample, I create music. Do not get me started on Kanye West,” he replied. “Kanye West trapped Paul McCartney.”

Albarn continued digging in, calling the “FourFiveSeconds” collab with Rihanna insulting. “It’s rude,” Albarn said. “I have a problem with this abusive collaboration: We’re talking about Paul McCartney, anyway! Kanye West thinks only of Kanye West, using a name to make headlines, saying, ‘McCartney is in my song.’ In addition, he puts McCartney in the video of the song, but not in the song itself.”

Ahead of the collaboration, Albarn said he warned McCartney not to work with Kanye. “Before he decided to work with Kanye West, I sent a text message to McCartney saying, ‘beware,’ but he ignored it,” Albarn continued. “He does what he wants, it’s Paul McCartney.”

He wrapped up his tirade with one final quip: “Kanye West is one of those people who feed on other people.”

These may not have been the exact word-for-word comments from Albarn, considering the interview was translated from English to French and then back to English, but either way, he’s definitely no fan of Kanye, so don't expect collab between these two anytime soon.
