Despite his best efforts, it looks like Ja Rule is now resigned to the fact that he will never battle 50 Cent on the Versuz Instagram Live series.

Rule was interviewed by Hot 97 Sunday, and praised Versuz for what the Timbaland and Swizz Beatz-created series has accomplished since its inception while developing a sense of "love and respect" among its competitors.

"I never back down from a battle, man. I love it," Rule said on Sunday. "My catalog speaks for itself. I have a great catalog. It would be dope for hip-hop. It would be fun, and it’s for the culture. Versuz is about love and respect for each other’s catalog, and what you’ve done for music, and what you contributed."

That sense of "love and respect" has never been sentiments that Rule and his longtime enemy 50 Cent have shared, which is why he believes that they will never be able to put their differences aside and let it just be about the music for the IG Live series.

"I don't know if me and him can do that," Rule continued. "I don't know if that would work. Just for respect of the culture. I would never want to disrespect the culture and let me and his little thing get into the love and respect of what Versuz has brought to the culture, for each other’s catalog and the artistry. I would never want to tarnish that."

Earlier this month, Rule first suggested that he and 50 should battle on Versuz, but the challenge was immediately shot down with the use of a popular GIF from the rapper's cameo on Entourage

Rule then tried to get under 50's skin by claiming that he "musically influenced" his enemy. Whether they ever step in the proverbial ring remains to be seen.
