Lil Wayne confirmed new music speculation.

On Thursday night, the New Orleans rapper tweeted a video announcing the release of his much-anticipated Funeral album. The project, which serves as the follow-up to 2018's Tha Carter V, will arrive Jan. 31.

"Welcome to the funeral," he sings in the clip. "Closed casket as usual."

Wayne briefly spoke about the project during an August 2019 interview with Q93's Wild Wayne. Weezy told the radio host the Funeral album had already been recorded, but needed to undergo final touches.

"You know how it work," he said. "My album's always done. It just takes Mack to come in there to rack up a couple of songs and name them. That's how it go round here. I work every day. It just take them to come in and say 'let me get these 20 songs, can I have these and name them, and we go from there.'"

Anticipation for the album surged this week, after it was announced Wayne would make appearances on N.O.R.E and EFN's Drink Champs podcast as well as an episode of Car Test with Elliott Wilson.

In support of the project's release, Weezy has dropped Funeral merchandise online. The collection includes pullover hoodies, graphic tees, a strapback, stickers, as well as physical copies of the album.

Stay tuned as more information about the release becomes available.
