August Alsina has been open about the autoimmune disease that has plagued his health, but the singer has remained positive.

This positivity continued when the singer shared an update with his fans about the new treatment he's starting.

"Update; My doctors have started me on my iv antibody Immunotherapy. In short form it’s sort of like chemo but instead, for my immune system. Only in this case, not killing the cells, but encouraging my nervous system & body to rebuild," Alsina wrote in an Instagram post of him sing what he describes as a song of "affirmation." "I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been tough on my body, but there are necessary steps in order to make progress. iLLness is so humbling & I often find myself singing this song of affirmation to myself eryday, so I figured I’d share that same love, affirmation and motivation with yal, whoever may need it. iHope it speaks to u."

In July, Alsina was hospitalized after losing his ability to walk. Although it was a scary situation, he continued to be upbeat when disclosing the news to his followers. Now, it appears as though doctors will try to rebuild the deterioration the illness has caused his body in hopes that he'll live a healthier life.

Alsina's last studio album, This Thing Called Life, was released back in 2015.
