Slim 400's dedication is admirable.

In late June, the West Coast rapper was hospitalized after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during a drive-by in Compton. The 31-year-old artist, thankfully, pulled through and was released after undergoing several surgeries—but he refused to waste any more time. Immediately after Slim got out of the hospital, he hit the studio and went back to work on a Lil Cyko-produced track called "Shake Back." Within 24 hours, the YG-affiliate had recruited Young Dolph to assist the record.

"Went straight from the hospital to the studio, listened to two beats, hop'd on the second track, played some dark shit from Lil Cyko, laid my verse 2-4 bars at a time," Slim told Complex about the song. "The next day pulled up on Young Dolph. He had DM'd me after Nipsey (Hussle) passed, saying be safe on some RNS. I felt he been thru it, I been thru it and out of that came 'Shake Back!'"
