Monday night, Lana Del Rey shared an impromptu video of her singing a new song she was inspired to write following this weekend's back-to-back mass shootings.

The song, titled "Looking for America," sees Lana "singing love to the choruses" she recorded earlier that morning. In an Instagram caption, Lana detailed just how quickly the piece came together with a little help from engineer Laura Sisk and frequent collaborator (and Bleachers frontman) Jack Antonoff.

"[I] came back early from Montecito with my brother this morning and asked Jack Antonoff to come into town because I had a song on my mind that I wanted to write," Lana told fans. "Now I know I'm not a politician and I'm not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion, but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level, I just wanted to post this video that our engineer Laura took 20 minutes ago. I hope you like it."

Lana's new album Norman Fucking Rockwell, her first new full-length since Lust for Life in 2017, is out Aug. 30.
