When Ed Sheeran took to Instagram in June to announce the star-studded tracklist for No.6 Collaborations Project—with names like Cardi B, Young Thug, Meek Mill and Eminem sitting beside J Hus, Dave, and Stormzy—anticipation was understandably high. Now Ed's back with another UK crowd pleaser, or more accurately, two crowd pleasers: a pair of remixes of the Stormzy-assisted "Take Me Back To London".
The first remix sees Manchester's Aitch and Birmingham's Jaykae add some extra verses, and the second is a grimier reworking of the Aitch and Jaykae version from veteran grime producer Sir Spyro. The choppiness and use of strings on the original already made it work as a grime instrumental, and Spy's version swaps most of the strings for a grimier, slightly dubby bass line and a choppy drum pattern.
Not only that, but they also shot a video for the Spyro version. Shot across Manchester, Birmingham and London, the KC Locke-directed video for the Spyro remix captures all four artists (Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, Jaykae and Aitch) partying up and down the country, but longing to return for a rave in the Big Smoke.
