It's been a good great week for news of the SZA variety.
Fresh off the fan-shared footage of her overseas cover of Wheatus' 2000 radio classic "Teenage Dirtbag," we now have word that her full-length follow-up to 2017's CTRL will be preceded by the release of "a little project."
This promising update on the topic of new SZA music comes from another stop on her ongoing run of Australia shows.
"True tea, I'm probably gonna drop, like, a little project before my album so I can just get it out of the way," she told the crowd, which understandably erupted into cheers at this statement. "Because realistically speaking, if you leave it up to my foolish ass, we'll be here quite some time." (Recall that CTRL was infamously delayed for several years.)
As for the content of this "little project," SZA said fans should mostly know what to expect on the tracklist. With any luck, we'll be getting both Kevin Parker and motherfucking Wheatus on this batch of songs, but that's largely pure speculation on this writer's part.
2019's assortment of SZA drops has included an appearance alongside Travis Scott on the Game of Thrones series-ender compilation and DJ Khaled's Father of Asahd cut "Just Us," which has spent nine weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 43 and sitting at No. 56.
